Winning this award must be very thrilling. Does it prompt you then to even want to invent bigger and better machines?

I'm very happy with the current machine as it relates to price versus performance, especially because it comes with a huge library of videos that work with the machine instantly at no cost to users, which is a feature that competing products do not offer. That said, we are developing an improved version that will do the same thing, but will have more premium finishes, better motor control, and possibly be slightly smaller and quieter.

These improvements will be incremental in nature and will add significant cost, to the extent that we will continue to offer the current version but will also sell the new enhanced one for a higher price alongside it. 

Is the future (as in the future is happening right now!) for sex toys in smart devices/AI completely? 

At least as far as men's devices, technology will continue to play an huge role. We will eventually not only offer the video sync as we do today, but may later connect sensors that allow the user's reactions to the product's movements to modify what the machine does, so that it reacts just as a human being would, by understanding what feels good and then doing that (or not doing it) depending on the user's preferences. 

I don't see much of this applying to women's toys and expect changes to be made as far as types of stimulation, but not as far as technology usage goes. 

What’s the bottom line to what all sex toys need to have first and foremost to make them successful?

The answer to this differs depending on the goal of the brand owner. There's a current trend of companies simply copying our features in words only, and putting those words on the box, and then getting placement in stores so that people think they are buying something that does what the Autoblow does but in fact the features don't work even close to the way the customers expect them to.

Then you have companies like ours and a couple of others whose goal is to impress the actual users, not to impress the resellers. We need more than packaging to be successful - in fact we need to keep up with the latest tech to offer immersive experiences that make people say WOW after they use our machines. It's much harder to achieve but produces better long term results. 

Going to and graduating law school but ending up making state-of-the-art masturbatory devices…how did you make that leap or was your head always as much in the law as male pleasure devices?

I started first in law school buying stuff from local auctions and selling it on eBay and later doing garage sales and then industrial auctions. I just saw a lot of potential in business where my efforts weren't directly related to my time input, as it was with a legal career. 

Long story short, I began in the adult industry by first selling latex fetishwear but then making custom gear for big and tall people. I moved to China in 2007 where I lived for 10 years and was inspired there by the success of Fleshlight as the only B2C brand for men at the time in the adult industry. 

The exciting thing about this field today is that there is so much to do because very few companies have taken the initiative to help men have fantastic "WOW" experiences.

You raised an amazing amount of money when crowdfunding, do the times truly dictate what we are looking for in our intimate devices?

The money I raised in crowdfunding was a lot at the time, but it’s dwarfed by our global sales every year, showing the demand in the market for pleasure devices that give men exactly the features they want like video sync and the ability to create customized stimulation modes, among others.  

I'm not sure the variety of sex toys is increasing but the quality level and sensations offered in the top toys is increasing at a very fast pace and men's willingness to spend more on quality and sensation is increasing at a fast pace as well. 

What’s on the future drawing board, that you can tell us about, for Autoblow?
