It’s one thing to catch a celebrity engaging in a little photo-shopping trickery (or these days, more likely AI-driven slight-of-hand), but something else to spy something in a posted picture they may not have wanted us to see. Such was the case with a recent Doja Cat post that appeared this week on her “Paint the Town Red” social media account. At the bottom of the pic (see above), a Motorbunny vibrator is seen waiting under the singer’s bed for yet another DC ride.
It has not been revealed whether this photo was sourced or captured.
Celebrities Surely Do it
Doja Cat performed at the 2020 AVN Awards and has embraced a sexualized persona, as many modern pop stars do. Like many celebrities—from Harry Styles to Demi Lovato and Dakota Johnson—she represents a growing trend of public figures either endorsing or entering the adult product industry. Following Doja Cat's recent endorsement, Motorbunny's CMO Craig Mewbourne commented: "If superstars like Doja Cat are on board with the removal of stigmas surrounding masturbation, we wholeheartedly applaud the gesture." This reflects a broader cultural shift toward normalizing conversations about sexuality and personal wellness products.
The Rising Ride Of The Sex Saddle Machine
The adult toy industry traces the rise in popularity of riding vibrators to the 1980s. While vibrators, sex chairs, and various stimulation devices have existed throughout history—including Victorian-era "hysteria machines" that doctors used for medical treatments—their modern popularity can be attributed to one inventor and his creation: Dave Lampert and the Sybian. Conceived in the 1970s but developed starting in 1983, the first prototype was constructed from sheet metal and went through several design iterations.
Originally called the "Master Better," it was eventually renamed the "Sybian." This groundbreaking device featured a mounted, half-barrel design that delivered both powerful vibrations and rotational movements, providing direct stimulation for users who straddle the device. Lampert's invention became so successful that, like Kleenex or Xerox, the brand name became synonymous with the entire product category of riding stimulators, even as other companies developed their own versions.
Modern advancements, particularly teledildonics (remote control technology via smartphone apps), have made newer devices like the Motorbunny more popular than ever. These devices have found their way into mainstream culture, with various celebrities openly discussing their use.
