Opinion: The Government Should Supply Sex Toys to Troops

There are people deployed right now trying to get off in porta-johns with one hand on their crotch and the other holding a flashlight. Some haven’t had privacy in weeks. Some are using hotel lotion and napkins. Some just give up and go numb.

The body doesn’t stop needing sex because you’re in uniform. And no matter how much gear the military ships out, it still doesn’t include the one thing that would actually help: a good vibrator, a decent sleeve, and real lube.

Sex toys should be standard issue for health, sanity, and stress.

It shouldn’t take shame or desperation to admit you need release, it's basic maintenance like shaving, hydration, and anything else that keeps the body from breaking down.

The military already sends razors, tampons, condoms, and Viagra. There’s no reason they can’t send vibrators too.

Still Human, Still Horny

Service doesn’t erase desire because being in uniform doesn’t pause anyone’s need to feel. Some days, what someone needs most is time alone with their body.

Right now, people are making do with socks, empty water bottles, and pillow corners followed by copious amounts of frustration. Some people don't touch themselves at all, burying it deep until it disappears, or doesn't.

Silence doesn’t fix it, instead it twists natural urges into something shameful. Then comes recklessness, burnout, and checked-out numbness.

Why Orgasm Matters

Stress builds up everywhere whether it be in your jaw, chest, or behind your eyes. It doesn’t care what uniform you’re wearing, it lives in your body until something breaks it loose.

Orgasms help relieve pressure both physically and mentally. Your heart rate slows and breathing deepens. Cortisol levels drop and your immune system will stop tanking.

That kind of relief matters when everything else is loud, rigid, and relentless. You don’t get softness out there because being in uniform means regiment and stillness. But a vibrator is how you can take care of yourself.

Masturbation isn’t a luxury, it's what keeps people from losing touch completely. And the right toy gets you there faster and it helps you stay present. Let it be easy.

The Tools Already Exist

It’s not 2003 anymore, and toys no longer look like cartoon dicks or glitter wands. They’re sleek, silent, and rechargeable. For example, there are strokers made of medical-grade silicone that feel better than the real deal. There are suction toys that never even touch your skin but make you come in under two minutes. There’s lube that doesn’t dry out mid-use and doesn’t leave you sticky like you just spilled syrup down your pants.

You can rinse them clean with a water bottle. Wipe them off with your shirt. Charge them through a USB. Hide them in a sock. They’re smaller than the flashlight you’re already carrying. And yeah, some of them are so quiet you can use them ten feet from someone else and they’d never know.

We’re not waiting on the tech because it already exists.

We’ve just decided this isn’t worth supplying.

What a Kit Could Look Like

  • Small pouch included in a regular supply drop

  • One compact vibrator, one stroker sleeve, and one lube bottle

  • Rechargeable, non-porous, and silent

  • Neutral packaging (no gender assumptions)

  • Option to request replacements discreetly

A five-minute orgasm can do what two hours of therapy and ten Tylenol can’t, which is the point.

Let Them Have This

Deployment strips comfort, softness, and control from soldiers. For many, masturbation is the last private act, that makes a person feel in their own body again.

That moment shouldn’t involve guilt, or broken junk from Amazon hidden in a sock. It can be something reliable, quiet, and easy to access.

It's a Basic Ask

People talk about helping and advocate about supporting the troops, but when it comes to physical care in relation to pleasure there is absolute silence. Burnout happens when we forget people are human.

Relief isn’t a joke, it's an integral part of the job.

Supply the Toys

We know the science, and there are tools to make this a reality. All that needs to happen is putting a plan into motion. Troops already handle enough, and they don’t need to struggle with their own bodies too.

Let them have something of their own. Quiet. Private. Real. Supply the sex toys if you want to support the troops.
