It's actually a user-generated content platform, where every game you play was created by another user or group of users. Our Investigation

We wanted to understand how difficult it was to access these games, hoping to find answers about accessibility, content, and the broader discourse around the topic. What we found was surprising. We discovered that Reddit and Discord have communities specifically designed to promote condo games to users. Members of these chat rooms must act quickly to click shared links because Roblox has become more sophisticated at removing these games within minutes.

To dive deeper, my colleague Adrian and I joined some chat rooms to observe the process. Within the first five minutes, we were given a link. When we both attempted to access it, we found that we had to verify our Roblox accounts to continue. During the verification process, our accounts essentially froze. We're unsure if this was a scam or a security measure, but after 10 minutes of troubleshooting and clicking the link again, we discovered it had already been invalidated. However, actually accessing the content involves a convoluted verification process that may be intentionally confusing or part of Roblox's countermeasures. Where there's a will, there's a way. The forums gave the impression that 8-year-olds were talking to each other, with a few creepy adults chiming in. It was quite obvious that many of the kids in these Discord chats weren't fully aware of the implications of these games.

What Playing a Condo Game Looks Like

While we weren't able to access these games directly due to account lockouts, based on reports from others who have investigated these spaces, here's what the experience typically involves: avatars engaging in sexual activities with one another. Think pixelated Roblox character anatomy and explicit chat conversations. While not the most sophisticated version of adult content available online, it's significantly more explicit than the content children typically encounter on gaming platforms.

The Implications

Roblox appears to be taking the issue seriously and working diligently to clean up the platform. While condo games have been covered by various news outlets, the actual severity and long-term implications of this problem remain to be fully understood. If you're a parent, you have the ability to enable parental controls on your child's Roblox account.

There are many ways to mitigate the risk of your child stumbling upon inappropriate content. While these games are definitely concerning and inappropriate for children, Roblox probably isn't a platform that requires constant helicopter parenting—especially with proper safety settings in place. It's worth noting that other similar online gaming communities, like Club Penguin in its heyday, also dealt with inappropriate sexual content appearing on their platforms.

While this is far from ideal, it's one of the many challenges that comes with children having access to user-generated content in our technological age.

How Can We Stop Roblox Condo Games?

The answer isn't straightforward, as preventing inappropriate content on user-generated platforms requires a multi-pronged approach. The reality is that completely eliminating inappropriate content from user-generated platforms is nearly impossible. However, through a combination of platform vigilance, parental awareness, and child education, we can significantly reduce children's exposure to these spaces and create safer online gaming experiences.

Eventually all kids grow up to be adults that watch scary gang bang porn on the internet, but for now, let’s let kids be kids without being bombarded with this content.
