Talking With James Guo Of 'Our Erotic Journey'

It’s hard keeping up with James Guo’s Our Erotic Journey sexual wellness adult toy company. From its creation in 2019, the company has won countless awards for the many products featured across its distinctive collections - Sublime, Thrillz, Curious, Pot, Space, and Lit.

We learn more about his company and modern-day sex toy production below from Mr Guo.

Beyond focusing on “wellness, playfulness and a blissful state of being,” as your website press says, is it customer feedback, cultural trends, popular porn scenes, your imagination, or a combination of allof these (or none at all) that influence the toys you create?

All of these you mentioned influenced the toys that I create, yes. Customer feedback is usually about user experience, it's the core value of a sex toy; imagine someone using a Gspot vibe or a masturbator for one hour and getting no orgasm… why would he/she buy it?  Cultural trends and popular porn scenes make it easier for our marketing; if people already know something about a toy, and already have an impression of it there is a higher chance that people gonna buy it. But my imagination and my team's imagination also made the toy have a better function, better shape, and better themes.

What type of toy do you find ‘trending’ presently and do you think there is a reason for this?

Our current best-seller product is the SEC DUO couple’s vibe. Couples purchasing this product make it such a high seller, it has good function and motor and is remote-controlled which makes it easy to use. Also, it's more affordable than some competitors.

Our Zodiac and EroRide collections are also trending now because they are unique on the market. The mini vibes here are based on the twelve zodiac signs and the toys come with collectible cards for each sign. It makes for a good display kit that really makes them outstanding in a store. All of the toys are good quality, with strong power, and of course, rendered into good shapes. The EroRide collection comes with four shapes of car air freshener, with four different flavors, all pheromone infused, which makes people more sensitive when engaging in sexual contact. They can not only be used in a car but also be used in a small bedroom.

Are there ‘hard no’s’ at OEJ, toys that you won’t ever make regardless of customer demand?

Not until now, however, the bottom line of OEJ is that we never do something illegal.

Do you think the stigma around using sex toys has been pretty much lifted in our current ‘evolved’ cultural state, or do we still have some ways to go in that regard?

This is an interesting topic, people are still shy when they get into a storefront, it's better than it was twenty years ago maybe but there's still a long way to go. Winning countless awards, setting industry standards, creating six distinctive collections with nearly fifty products…how do you plan on “pushing boundaries and innovation in the years ahead.”

What’s coming for OEJ in 2025?

We will push more valuable products into most markets in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, hopefully win more awards, and keep making better products all the time.
