A recent AARP report indicates that 26% of people at their half century mark (and over) are currently involved in gig work. And a December 2024 report by SWR Data claims that folks aged 35 and older account for over 50% of cam performers.

So, are there more ‘mature’ folks engaging in adult content creation gig work?

Slate and AEBN have weighed in with the numbers on this trend, and the MILFs, GILFS and Cougars seem to rule the day in adult gig work.

Slate’s Findings

Slate.com’s recently published "The Rise of the GILF Economy," which is an article that considers the seeming recent glut of mature performers joining OnlyFans, Chaturbate, etc. Focusing as much on the specific performers they interviewed as the effects of the current economy, the popularity of more mature performers cannot be ignored. One lady highlighted in the Slate reporting, is 71-year-old GILF Sandra and her near two-decades-younger husband. The couple enjoys over 70,000 followers on Chaturbate and has been nominated for industry awards. They report that the most requests for they get for custom video is for anal content.

Another lady, 50-something Lavishlynn52, pulls in $2,000 to $3,000 weekly, while 52-year-old Cherry Anne, earns close to $70,000 annually. And, in an interesting twist to the usual paradigm with adult performers, as the obvious age of older performers is one of the main factors that attract their viewers, according to Slate, MILFS and GILFs very rarely, if ever, undergo surgery or other cosmetic procedures to make themselves look younger.

AEBN TRENDS

Claiming one of the first things viewers search for online presently is “mature matrons in various stages of undress,” cougar content was an all too easily and surely obvious grouping for a recent AEBN TRENDS report. The main questions explored here is "What makes a woman a MILF?"; "How does a MILF differentiate from a Cougar?"; and basic exploration of the etymology of the term MILF (its first use indicated in the Oxford English Dictionary attributed to L.A. Sutton back 1992, when the linguist documented first hearing students use the slang when he worked at the University of California, Berkeley).

Of course, the 1999 movie "American Pie" brought the term even wider acclaim when Stifler’s mom (played by Jennifer Coolidge) had the boys all chanting MILF! MILF! MILF!

It also should be noted that the ASN Awards will hand out its first GILF Performer honor next year as well.
