Here's something many users don't realize: your nickname and your username are actually two different things on ToyChats! Understanding the difference helps you control how you appear across the site.
Username vs. Nickname
Your username is permanent and shows up in your profile URL (like toychats.com/user/your-username). It's your technical identifier on the site.
Your nickname is what everyone actually sees when you interact on the site and it's what appears next to your comments, reviews, posts, and discussions.
Think of your username as your legal name and your nickname as what your friends call you!
Why This Matters
Your nickname gives you flexibility! Maybe you chose a username years ago that you're not vibing with anymore, or maybe you want to be known by something catchier or more personality-driven. Your nickname lets you refresh your identity without losing your account history or having to change your URL.
How to Change Your Nickname 🔧
Click your profile picture in the top right corner of the screen (by default, it displays the first letter of your username)
Select "Profile Settings" from the dropdown menu
Find the "Nickname" field and enter your desired display name
Click "Update" to save your changes
Pro tip: 💡 Unlike usernames, you can change your nickname as often as you'd like, so don't be afraid to experiment and find what feels right!
