My verdict

This dildo checks all the boxes for me. I really can’t recommend it enough for how comfortable, lightweight, easy to use, and soft it is! If you’re looking for a first-time toy to use with a harness, to engage the suction cup for easy shower fun, or even to just try an internal toy that doesn’t vibrate, you really can’t go wrong with this one. Shaft’s J dildo is a slam dunk. Now, excuse me while I go check out the vibrating ones.

Design

Let me be real with you: I’m a vibrator girl. Every sex toy I’ve ever owned has had some sort of motor from the battery-operated bullets of my youth to the air pulsers I swear by today. However, I was immediately intrigued when I pulled the Shaft J model out of the box. I love the versatility of this product. It’s wonderful for solo play, using in the shower, sliding into a harness, and everything in between. I now would have to call myself a vibrator/dildo girl because of how much I love this thing!

Its design is simple, but Shaft really does it right with its soft, flexible silicone material. It’s great to have a smaller option for those who wouldn’t know what to do with a monster dildo for their first time, and the feel of this product… So natural and pleasurable. Truly, I can’t say enough good stuff about this dildo.

Quality

So, since I haven’t owned other dildos-that-weren’t-also-vibrators before, I went to the sex shop to compare this bad boy to the other options, and wow! The quality is so much better than most dildos, even those with comparable prices.

It’s softer, more flexible, more realistic, and honestly just lovelier to look at. I compared this to the look and feel of sever other realistic dildos, and honestly, it was hands-down my favorite.

Experience

Like I said, when you touch this dildo and compare it to many other realistic options in the same price point, it feels softer, more flexible, and more like real skin. It’s also versatile and able to be used in the shower, with a harness, or really anywhere else. Some people might prefer a version with testicles, which is totally valid, and Shaft has a bunch of other options that offer this as well. They also have dildos in other colors, sizes, and yes, even some that vibrate.

I used this toy in the shower and in bed with a vibe to enhance my enjoyment, and wow. It really felt nice and looked good in bed with me. 😉 What more could you ask for?

Performance

As far as realistic dildos go, I’m a newbie, but I’m for sure a fan of this product. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Moreover, the employees at the sex shop recommend Shaft as a great brand. They also said they noticed a difference between its material and that of other realistic dildos at the same price.

Of course, the size is 5.5 inches with an insertable length of 4.9 inches. So, if you’re a size queen or are looking for something larger, I fully expect this won’t satisfy you. But if you’re not sure about dildos and trying to find something small to start out with, this is a great choice.

Materials and care

The reason this dildo feels so great is its dual-layer silicone design. This material gives it the more realistic feel that isn’t exactly like the real thing but pretty damn close! It’s also easy to care for: just wash with unscented, antibacterial soap and water, and you’re good to go!

This was also a plus for me because I’ve heard some realistic dildos take more maintenance (including the use of cornstarch), but a little research told me dual-layer silicone doesn’t require such handling. It can also be used with any non-silicone-based lube, just like my fave vibes.

Packaging

If I have to find fault with anything, it might be the packaging. It was a little blah, didn’t come with an instruction booklet (I’m a reader), and just offered the cardboard-and-plastic experience so common with sex toys. However, the box itself does ask that you recycle it, which I appreciate.

Delivery of the toy ended up with a punctured box, but the dildo itself was fine, so I wasn’t too miffed. I really do feel that a lovely unboxing experience is great, but ultimately, it’s all about the product inside, and this dildo delivers itself.

Price

I’ve seen Shaft’s J model going for around $60. And with its harness compatibility, flexibility of use, and soft feel, I’d say it’s worth the price. It’s so easy to use for anything you want to use it for, and it’s a safe (as well as less intimidating) choice for the dildo first-timer.
