My verdict

As a beginner set, the CalExotics Boundless Collar Body Restraint kit skips past cheap, avoids over used materials, and has decent security. I have reviewed dozens of beginner cuffs in the $25-$40 range and this lands in the top 10%, but not the top spot for this price range. The collar and attachment points seem a little more on the fantasy side vs practical. You know that one spot on your back that you just can't quite scratch where only some of us can get our fingers to interlock when reaching from up and down? Well that’s the region all of these rings are in to secure your hands to.

Pros

Unique material
Cuffs well designed for independent play/with other items
Enough substance to distribute pressure
Metal hardware doesn’t skimp

Cons

Belly strap was cheap
Behind the back arm position felt difficult to maintain
Odd yellow tag on collar
Generic directions
Mediocre security

Price

As I've become more experienced with bondage and restraints I've become particular about what I like. This tends to be expensive, and it's really important to assess with the price bracket in mind. I really liked the choice of material because it's clear when cheap fake leather is being used, and it rarely lasts. However they also didn't fall back on the "standard" cheap materials. The one exception being the belly strap and buckle felt cheap. If the belly strap and buckle had been made with a higher quality material, it may have justified a higher price, and not felt out of place on an otherwise high value construction.

Performance

The first set of cuffs we ever bought was a set of sport sheet bed restraints. They were expensive to us at the time, but were ultimately so disappointing. For some beginners the ability to escape may be an important factor when building trust with your partner. A truly inescapable cuff probably isn't a good first idea, but our first set of restraints was so laughably escapable. I'll admit this is a first impression review and we haven't fully put these to the test. Yes, my escape artist did manage to grasp the Velcro and release herself, but it was at least mildly challenging. Ultimately, this set of cuffs will stay in our collection and kick out a different set of beginner cuffs. The collar and attachment points will probably get passed on fairly quickly to some other couple looking to try something new. As I said in the top portion, the d rings are right in the small of the back. If you are super flexible this may be great for you, but it left us stretching and straining which was more awkward than playful.

Quality

We have danced around quality in a few sections. The exterior grid material seems easy to clean, durable, and feels good. It is not sticky, plastic like, or any of those sensory inputs that trigger thoughts of cheap or poor quality (still very synthetic though).

The stitching seems to be well done.

The choice of rings for the back attachment points are exceptional for the price point. They are thick, and while not welded have virtually no gap. Metal hand wear is typically a cheap point for sex toys.

The material against the skin feels deliberately scruffy, it's not like fleece lined, but more like fur lined. When your wrists twist one way it lies flat, smooth, and soft. However, twisting the other way is a little harsher. Its more of a sensory experience thing in my perspective than an uncomfortable material choice.

Packaging

When going for a large manufacturer of budget supplies it shouldn't surprise you to have some generic materials. However, the instruction sheet has information that seems like it could apply to every single toy the company makes. Otherwise, I'd call the box nice but not discreet.
