My verdict

The Anna Karenicum isn’t a terrible toy, but it doesn’t stand up to the cost. Its whale-inspired design is cute, the controls are user-friendly, and the pulsations are strong, but the flaws are too big to overlook. With only IPX5 water resistance, limited sensations, and a reliance on packaging to create a sense of luxury, it falls short of expectations. At $126 USD when nearly identical options exist for half the price, I can’t recommend it. This one feels like more style than substance.

Pros

User-friendly design with intuitive controls
Secure grip and pinpoint control
Balanced vibration intensity for sensitive areas
Easy to clean

Cons

Not fully waterproof (IPX5-rated, so cannot be submerged)

Design

What did you think of the look and feel of the product?

The controls on the Anna Karenicum are impressively user-friendly. With just one button to power on the device and another to activate the stimulation, navigating through its functions is straightforward. The tail fits naturally against the wrist, providing a stable leverage point that makes it easy to apply pressure precisely where you want. The thick, rounded head ensures a secure grip, allowing for pinpoint accuracy and total control when combined with the tail’s anchoring support. The pulsations on the Anna Karenicum are concentrated solely within the stimulation hole on the head. Given its unique shape, it would have been great to feel those vibrations extend down through the body and tail, which could have added a secondary form of stimulation. This would give users more flexibility in how they use the device, offering new ways to enjoy its features.

Quality

Did it feel high-quality in your hands?

At first glance, the Anna Karenicum gives off the impression of being a premium toy. The body-safe silicone covering is smooth, soft to the touch, and paired with an ABS control panel for durability. It doesn’t feel flimsy, but it also doesn’t inspire full confidence when compared to other products in the same price bracket. The most noticeable drawback in quality is the IPX5 waterproof rating. This technically makes it water-resistant, meaning it can handle splashes or low-pressure streams, but it cannot be submerged. For a modern toy, especially one marketed as sleek and user-friendly, this feels like a step backward. Most similar stimulators on the market are fully waterproof, and this limitation makes the product feel less thoughtfully engineered.

Experience

How did it actually feel when you used it?

When it comes to actual stimulation, the Anna Karenicum is focused and powerful. The pulsations and suction are centered in the stimulation hole, and the intensity is balanced well enough that it doesn’t feel overwhelming. It offers ten different patterns, giving users variety to explore. For those who enjoy targeted clitoral or nipple stimulation, it delivers a strong, consistent performance.

Performance

Did the product live up to your expectations during use?

The controls are easy to navigate. With just two buttons, powering on and cycling through functions is simple, and the placement of the controls makes sense during use. The heart-shaped tail adds stability, so it doesn’t slip or twist unexpectedly. On a technical level, it performs as advertised: the motor is strong, the pulsations are effective, and the toy is relatively quiet, averaging around 56 dB on lower settings.

Materials and care

Was it easy to clean and maintain?

The silicone is body-safe, smooth, and non-porous, which is always a plus. Unfortunately, the IPX5 water-resistance rating complicates care. Instead of being able to submerge the toy in water for a quick, thorough wash, users have to stick to cautious rinsing under low pressure.

Packaging

What was the unboxing experience like?

The Cliterature Starter Pack arrived in a simple, discreet brown box, perfect for keeping things private. Inside, everything was safely cushioned with plenty of paper padding and bubble wrap, ensuring the collection stayed intact during transit. Each of the four toys in the collection was individually wrapped for extra protection. The product packaging for each toy is as clever as it is stylish, designed to look like a classic hardback book in a high-end collection. The titles are witty twists on well-known novels, transformed into Moany Dick, Pleasure Island, Anna Karenicum, and The Great Gaspy. Opening each “book” reveals the corresponding toy nestled in a black foam insert, complete with all its accessories and documentation, adding a touch of luxury to the unboxing experience.

Price

Was it worth the price?

At $126 USD, the Anna Karenicum is significantly overpriced for what it offers. While the design is playful and the sensations are effective, the lack of waterproofing, limited versatility, and reliance on fancy packaging make it hard to justify. What makes this worse is that nearly identical models are sold on Amazon for $60 USD or less. For the premium price tag, you should be getting a sturdier build and more thoughtful features, but here, you’re paying for presentation rather than true performance.
