WeVibe TangoX Test: The Vaginal Toy That Packs a Surprising Amount of Punch

Design

The WeVibe Tango X is very pretty. It kind of looks like one of those vibrators meant to look like a lipstick, but more abstract. The bottom half, which you hold and has the buttons on it, is a soft-textured silicone, which I like the feel of. The end that delivers the vibrations is made from hard plastic. I am personally not a hard plastic fan. It works fine, but it just doesn't have the soft feel that comes with silicone.

When it comes to size, I'd say this is a solidly medium-size bullet. It's definitely bulkier than the ones I return to over and over, but it's not unwieldy. It's very easy to hold. Its slightly bigger grip size could be a plus for folks with dexterity issues. For me, it's neither positive nor negative.

The buttons are easy to locate with a little "plus" and "minus" sign, and easy to press. The charger is incorporated in a way that looks sleek, and is also waterproof, but since it connects magnetically rather than with a port to the charger, you have to place it down carefully so that the magnet charger doesn't disconnect. When it's charged, a red light turns on, which I discovered in the middle of the night when it was charging on my bedside table. Maybe charge it somewhere that isn't next to your sleep area.

Quality

Tango X feels like a quality, well-made toy. It's waterproof, which is always a nice bonus, even if just to make washing the device easier. I didn't care for the tip being hard plastic, because I typically associate that with cheaper toys. I didn't feel like it was likely to break, though, and I liked the feeling of the silicone grip.

It came with a USB charging cord, as well as a nice satin bag to keep it safe. I always appreciate when a toy comes with its own protective bag. It was nice that it came with a sample of pjur water-based lube. Remember, only use water-based lube on toys containing silicone!

Experience

I was really surprised by how much vibration this toy could deliver. Bullets are kind of hit-or-miss for me because I like a pretty strong vibration, but this one hit that threshold easily. It has 8 intensity levels and I went with levels 5 and 6 primarily. The targeted end made it really easy for me to concentrate vibrations where I wanted them, while the flat side let me distribute vibrations over a wider area if I was in the mood for that.

Performance

It definitely delivered on its promise! I enjoyed using this toy. It was really easy to operate, which is important for a sex toy since complicated operation can take you out of the moment. It's easy to hold and compact enough not to get in the way during partnered sex. Honestly, my expectations for a bullet vibe were far exceeded when it came to sensation. I just wish that it was all-silicone coated, rather than having a hard plastic tip. It wasn't a huge deal, but I'm picky!

Materials and care

The Tango X is made from body-safe materials, and is waterproof. I didn't heavily test the waterproof-ness as I am not a big bath-taker, but it did fine being washed in the sink under the faucet. I used soap and water, and dried it with a towel. I did talk several times about not caring for the hard plastic tip, but the one advantage there is it doesn't collect towel dust the way silicone can!

It came with a little satin bag to keep it safe in my drawer. That'll keep it from getting dusty or from touching other silicone toys.

Packaging

The box was so cute! The product slid out of the box like a drawer, and the box wasn't flimsy so I was confident it protected the product in the mail. However, as soon as I slid the little drawer out, the vibrator immediately fell on the floor. It wasn't damaged or anything, but it didn't seem like it was packaged securely within the box. When you open this one be careful.

Underneath the plastic that was holding the vibrator, there were compartments for the satin bag, a sample of lube, the directions, and the charge cord. I did notice that while it came with the cord it didn't come with an actual charging block. This won't be a problem for the majority of people because most of us have an abundance of charge blocks from owning phones.

Price

I received this toy for free to review. It retails for $80-$85 depending on where you buy it. While I was really impressed with the intensity of the vibrations, I don't think I'd pay $80 for it. I have comparable vibrators that cost slightly less that I like the style of more. If you want this vibrator, maybe wait for it to go on sale, because it's definitely a good piece. I think part of the high price tag is paying for the well-known brand name, WeVibe.
