The Bondage Boutique Sex Position Enhancer Chair is one of those toys that straddles the line between obviously-for-sex, or possibly just a weird yoga accessory. It has no bondage tie points, comes in black only, and isn’t covered with smooth vinyl. Can it actually enhance your sex life? We put it to the test.
Some Assembly Required (By a Strong Person)
Arriving in a plain white and mostly flat box, it was clear there would be some assembly required.

The manual states "kindly suggest: this product should be assembled by a strong person", and it's not kidding. The elastic straps are incredibly strong, and you'll need to stretch them to about twice their length to place the two halves together. That alone is no easy task, but doing so while also attempting to thread two legs into the right hole is a bloody workout.
Steps 1 to 3 in the manual weren't needed for me; it arrived half constructed. It's possible I received a return that someone had already attempted to build and failed miserably at the last step, but it didn’t appear to be used. In any case, the only thing left for me was to fix the cross bars of the two halves.

The manual shows the easiest way to do this critical last step: stand on it and pull up. It's not that it's hard to pull up, but it's awkward. You'll need to pull on one side while aligning the other. If you don't align it correctly it might go in a little, but it won’t actually be secure and is liable to pull out during use. So once you think it's in, lift slightly again for each side and get the connectors as straight as possible for the safest connection.
I found the easiest way to do this was to use one hand to pull the back up; your other hand can do the alignment and whack it in when done.

I’m sure some of you will want to deconstruct it after use and put it away neatly for storage, but I wouldn’t recommend that. Breaking apart and reconnecting tubes will often weaken them, and as a product designed to take the weight of a human, you want it to stay as strong as possible.
It’s not that big, and mostly empty space, so make room at the bottom of your cupboard to store it permanently. Again, it’s not that obvious that it’s a sex chair at all, so any awkward discovery could easily be hand-waved away as a yoga accessory (unless you’ve filled the gap underneath with massive dildos and a plethora of vibrators, that is).

What Positions Can You Do With the Sex Position Chair?
On the last page of the instructions are some recommendations for positions to try, so we tried them all in the name of science.
Supported Face Off

I don't know if that's a technical name, but it resembles a Face Off position with the sex receiver being supported. In this position, the sex giver kneels on the side and penetrates the receiver as they straddles the chair, legs wrapped around the giver.
The receiver's bum falling completely through the rubber slats and arms tiring quickly from supporting the weight resulted in a failed attempt. It’s awkward and uncomfortable.
Face Sitting

For this position, the pleasure giver needs to lie down, and thread their arms and shoulders through the sides of the stool. With the receiver straddling the chair, legs raised up and pushed open to allow access to all areas with minimal effort. The chair also has the added bonus of acting a little like a restraint for both parties; the receiver's legs are forced open a certain degree and can’t be closed, and while underneath, you’re hemmed in on both sides. Of course, both forward and reverse facing are possible; we preferred the latter.

This was my personal favorite for cunnilingus or golden showers. While I’m a massive fan of her sitting on my face, it's tricky to actually satisfy her. If I try to reposition my head (because, well… breathing), I'll end up contorting, and my neck suffers. If she’s close to orgasm, she clenches up, and I lose all ability to finish the job.
With the Bondage Boutique position chair, it's effortless.
Bouncing Cowgirl

This is probably the main reason this product was made, letting the receiver straddle their partner for penetration, but with plenty of support.
You'll need to position your hips inside of the chair before lying down. For really large guys, it might be a bit of a squeeze.
Given this is the core use case of the chair, it works well, as expected. She can bounce much easier with less knee and leg strain. And of course, it also works for reverse cowgirl.
Doggy Style

For this position, the receiver places their belly onto the stretchy part of the stool, with face and arms hanging off the end. Essentially, it’s doggy style with belly support. And in theory, this is brilliant; the straps let you bounce them back and forth.
We tried on the floor first, and on that kind of solid surface, we found the angle was wrong. Both my wife and I are tall, so it just didn’t work. Ideally, it would have adjustable legs so you could raise or lower the height of the stool. That’s not to say it won’t work for you; shorter legs or a massively long dong would make this more viable, but it didn’t work for us.
But moving onto the soft surface of the bed, the ability to sink into the mattress made this incredible. She found it much more comfortable and supportive than regular doggy, while I loved the ability to grab hold of the sides of the chair to bounce her back and forth.
That said, regular doggy isn’t exactly a tricky proposition. The chair enhances it, but doesn’t make something possible that wasn’t already.
Sitting?

Lastly, the manual shows a simple image of the receiver sitting on the stool. This must be the "do it yourself" position, because the partner was seemingly forgotten from this one. Am I supposed to just... watch? Either way, she couldn’t hold this for long; again, the fabric straps meant her bum sank through, and the strain on her arms was unworkable.
Do You Need a Position Enhancer Chair?
The Bondage Boutique Sex Position Enhancer Chair is a sturdy bit of kit, though I have some durability concerns. The EVA foam rubber wrapped around all the metal bars will likely perish in a few years, or sooner if you need to wash it. Who knows how long the rubber fabric will last? And if you’ve been using it without the tubes fully inserted, you can expect them to shear off sooner rather than later, with disastrous consequences.
Does it actually enhance sex? Undoubtedly. It's worth it for more comfortable face sitting and bouncier doggy action, if those are some of your favorites.
The other suggested positions are a bit weak, I can't fully recommend the position enhancer chair. It's supposed to offer support to make some positions more feasible. It does that, but in other ways, it just shifts the effort to another part of your body. Your legs or knees might feel slightly less stressed, but your arms will take a greater strain instead.
