Rave Ripple Review: No Wow Factor

Design

The Rave Ripple by Calexotics is designed to be fun. The packaging, title, and toy itself is meant to scream rave. The font on the box mimics the electro-futurist vibe of raves, and the color is fun and wild. The dripping texture on the toy reads almost like dragon scales, though it also gives Christmas tree. It’s a weird looking toy. For me, the aesthetic design direction doesn’t appeal.

On the other hand, it functions well. There’s one button, it’s very easy to find, and it controls all functions. The handle is comfortable and sits nicely in your palm. The shaft has a slight flex to it, not enough to really curve, just enough not to be rigid. It’s on the shorter side, 4.25 inches insertable and 6 inches in total length. It’s 1.25 inches wide at the head and 1.5 inches at the base. The charging port is on the bottom and very hard to find. It’s covered up by self-healing silicone, which keeps the toy waterproof and usually doesn’t hinder charging. However, it took me a while to find the right angle to put the plug in. The owner's manual didn’t help, I had to go to the toy’s product page and watch videos to figure it out.

Experience

The best part of this toy is the texture. I hesitate to call it ribbing because it’s not natural in the slightest. It’s covered in raised bumps that feel incredible when the toy is inside of you. Deep texture like this is super easy to feel. That’s the biggest highlight of this experience. The toy isn’t curved, so it doesn’t target your G-spot effectively. It’s not long, and the handle itself is short. Overall, it isn’t big enough to be comfortable to use. It does flex a little, allowing the toy is curve with your body, but not enough to really make an impact. It’s essentially a straight line. And it has a rigid, pointed head that’s just weird. The more I think about it, the more I realize how gimmicky the toy is despite all of its luxury features. I think rave aesthetic just made this toy fall short.

Quality

The toy’s quality feels superb. It’s coated in body-safe, soft silicone, and every edge and crease is well crafted. It is IPX7 waterproof submersible, meaning it’s completely waterproof. It runs for 90 minutes off a full battery, and takes 2.5 hours to charge. It has a memory chip that allows you to end a session on a particular speed and start right where you left off. It also comes with a security lock to make travel easier. It comes with a 1-year warranty.

Price

Rave Ripple is only $34.99. It’s very inexpensive and seemingly well-made. But, if you’re going to get a sex toy, get one that really does it for you. Not one that tries to be cute, rather than satisfying.

Performance

The Rave Ripple performs fine. It vibrates effectively and has several settings so you can always find the right speed. It leaves a lot to be desired in shape. It does deliver as far as texture goes, but an internal vibrator that doesn’t target your G-spot is pretty underwhelming. It feels like a missed opportunity. Overall, if vibrations are all you’re looking for, this does deliver. Though I still think you can do better. 

Materials and care

The toy is waterproof, making it super easy to clean. With warm water and soap, or toy cleaner, scrub thoroughly after use. Ensure all areas around the shaft are clean, it is very easy to miss spots on heavily textured toys.
