MotorBunny Fluffer Playmate Review: Anyone for Game Night? ;P

At first I genuinely thought this product didn't have the haptics feature at all, that I must have been utterly mistaken for thinking that it was supposed to when maybe it was actually meant to be included in an updated version...

I popped open Just Cause 3, made sure the rumbles were on, was in a situation where I felt very strong vibrations coming from the controller and found that there was absolutely nothing happening with the toys... The only time they reacted was when I tilted the controller. If anything at one point there was a faint haptic reaction, but I think I overrode it with too much tilt as I went to do something else.

When that failed, I ended up in the controller config menu in Steam settings pressing the "rumble" button for over half an hour seeing when the toys would and wouldn't react and how unlevel the controller had to be to feel the haptics but not react to the angle of the tilt. It seemed to react to the haptics there more than I thought it would which seemed hopeful!

With that in mind I tried BO6 zombies and multiplayers after, had weaker but decent vibrations from the controller, but still had no reactions from the toys. I thought Pack-A-Punching a weapon and sliding around with PhD Flopper would surely get a reaction from the toys as it was a bit more intense in vibrations that a normal gun and no Flop slides, but nope. No deaths or kills in Multiplayer had any reaction either.... nothing but the controller vibes.

Thinking it was because my controller was at 50%, I popped the batteries on the charger and tried again with Just Cause 3 since it had the most intense vibrations, thinking perhaps the intensity that the controller feels is what the toys would react to.... wrong. Still no real luck!

Ended up taking the Playmate for a spin on its own, no controller or extra device needed, just... well a Wii style flick of the wrist and it's off to the races! Alternated between the G2G and G-Thing before ultimately deciding to combine the two for an interesting endeavor. ;P

If anything I'd say the haptic gaming experience of the Playmate came from the Yahtzee style wrist movements that shook it up lol.

Motorbunny was super sweet to enclose their product in a discrete white bag so no prying eyes can sneak a peak at my new goody!

This three toned package is so simple and straight forward. The front is a clear plastic bubble showcasing the device itself, while its back panel displays the product name, a small quote, some gaming symbols, two pictures of the devices it's compatible with, a list of controllers it's compatible with, the company name and some app info. The back of the package has a picture of the device plugged into an actual controller, a picture diagram showing that it can be used to control the G-Thing, a small summary about the device, some battery info, a QR code and another tidbit about controller compatibility.

I'm a bit sad there are no 8-bit characters found on this package, even if it was just peaking over something. Also surprised they didn't write the product name in 8-bit like the others, but do like that they used the controller pic as the "M". At least they kept the color scheme somewhat the same!

I love the teeny tiny manual, probably for the simple reason that I'm a girl but it's just so damn cute and funny that they did it to match the size of the product. The hardcase is an awesome touch and super appropriate to have instead of a pouch.

One awesome feature the Motorbunny Playmate has going for it is that it's a true playmate, capable of playing with more than one person at a time and making sure no one feels excluded!

To activate this feature simply:

1. Turn on the Playmate by pressing down on the "F" for about 2 secs until the device starts blinking.
2. While the Playmate is blinking, grab the first toy you'd like to connect and turn it on.
3. The toy will most likely start to vibrate when the two are paired.
4. If you'd like, you can pause the first toy, or any connected after, by quickly pressing the "F" 2 times.
5. Simply repeat the 2nd and 3rd bullet to connect the other 5 toys.

All toys will respond to the tilt in the same manner and the same time.
